What Is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is the process of permanently removing imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat through machine polishing. Unlike wax or polish products that temporarily fill scratches to hide them, paint correction actually removes a microscopic layer of clear coat to level out the surface โ eliminating defects for good.
If you've ever looked at your car in direct sunlight and noticed a web of fine scratches, swirl marks, or a hazy appearance instead of a deep, mirror-like reflection โ that's what paint correction fixes.
Common Paint Defects We Correct
- Swirl marks โ circular micro-scratches caused by improper washing or automated car washes
- Light scratches โ surface-level scratches that haven't penetrated to the base coat
- Water spots โ mineral deposits etched into the clear coat from hard water or sprinklers
- Oxidation โ chalky, faded appearance caused by UV damage over time
- Buffer trails โ haze or holograms from previous amateur polishing attempts
- Bird dropping etching โ acidic marks left when bird droppings sit too long
- Industrial fallout โ metallic particles embedded in the paint from rail dust or brake dust
Levels of Paint Correction
Single-stage (enhancement polish): A one-step polish that removes 60-70% of swirl marks and light defects. Best for vehicles in decent condition that just need a refresh.
Two-stage (full correction): A cutting compound followed by a finishing polish. Removes 85-95% of defects. This is our most popular option โ dramatic results without being overly aggressive.
Multi-stage (show-quality): Three or more stages of polishing for vehicles where perfection matters. Removes virtually all correctable defects. Ideal before ceramic coating or for show cars.
Why It Matters
Your car's paint is one of the first things people notice. Swirl marks and haze make even a well-maintained car look neglected. After paint correction, the transformation is dramatic โ deep reflections, rich color, and that wet-look shine that makes your car look brand new.
Paint correction is also the essential first step before applying ceramic coating. Coating locks in whatever condition your paint is in โ so you want it perfect first.
Our Process
1. Thorough wash and decontamination โ removes surface dirt, clay bar pulls out embedded contaminants
2. Paint depth measurement โ we gauge your clear coat thickness to determine safe correction levels
3. Test spot โ we polish a small section to confirm the right combination of pad and compound
4. Machine polishing โ systematic panel-by-panel correction using professional dual-action polishers
5. Final inspection โ we check every panel under multiple light sources to ensure consistent results
6. Protection โ we recommend sealing the corrected paint with ceramic coating or sealant
